My Favorite Cards of 2011

The chipmunk digi is from Angels Landing.  The cocker spaniel is from Just Inklined.  I have quite a few more of their dog images.  I hope to get to them soon.  The boy and dog are from Mo's Digital Pencil.

The ballerina is from A Day for Daisies; the boy and his dog are from Mo's Digital Pencil, and the ragged angel is from Mo's also, of course.

Winter Fairy #2

This is the second of the set of new images by Mo's Digital Pencil.  This is actually my favorite of the two.
I could not get the lighting right on this one so the color is a tad off.

A Winter Fairy

Well, I'm back from a two week break from making cards.  It's difficult to get back into the swing.  This is one of the newest images from Mo's Digital Pencil.  I decided to color her the way the image was colored on the website.  I just loved the mottled look of the wings.  The ice on her wings is coated with Glamour Dust.

The inside top says:

                        "Keeping in touch
with the people we care about
helps keep the spirit of Christmas
                      alive in our hearts
                         all year long."

I made a pocket inside (bottom) that holds a tag that can be written on.

My husband does not care for this card...Oh, well.  You can't please everyone.

Copics:  BG10, BG11, BG13, E00, E02, E97, E99, N0, R11, R20, RV000, RV00, RV02, RV04, Y11, YR00

I decided to sign up again for the Christmas Card Challenge at Splitcoast, although, I'm making a lot less cards than last year.  This is the first of my January cards.

Broken Dolly

I decided to use this Digi Doodle Shop image called "Broken Dolly"  for their latest challenge, "Paper Piercing."  This has always reminded me a little of Norman Rockwell's, Doctor and the Doll, one of my favorite paintings.

I didn't save my list of Copics this time.  I am so busy right now I can hardly think straight!  I believe I'm done shopping, though.  I just need to make eight candles and five commissioned cards.  I haven't even started decorating yet.  This should be interesting.

Copic Marker Scrapbooking - New Release

Here are two of the new Christmas releases from Copic Marker Scrapbooking  .  To see all the images done by the design team, click here.  There is also a great Santa freebie.

I colored these both with Copic markers, of course.  Papers are from my stash.  the gorgeous ribbons above are from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.

I cheated a little on the snowman card.  I realized after I mailed the card that I forgot to color in the leaves on his hat.  I didn't have the card to fix before I posted so I colored it in with my photo program.  It worked pretty well.  Oh well, someone out there has my card without them colored.  They probably won't even notice.  I didn't until I saw it online.

Ragged Angel

This is my favorite Christmas image from Mo's Digital Pencil.  I love the angelic look on her face (makes sense...she's an angel).  I colored her with Copics.  The paper is from Echo Park.  This card is for my daughter and son-in-law.  I wanted to make them a very special card.  They are the only ones I haven't mailed a card to yet.  Here's your card, Katie!  Since I know you will see it on here.

Christmas Cards

I've been playing around with some Christmas cards this week.  I'll probably use these next year.  Mine are all mailed already.  Both images are from Mo's Digital Pencil and they are colored with Copics.  The papers are from my stash.

Out for a Ride

This card is my DT entry  for Digi Doodle Shop's Challenge # 86, Nature.  I was a little worried that I might be pushing the theme a little, but found out it was okay.  So here it is.  I really enjoyed coloring these images.  Animals, of course!  I had my daughter, Sandy, put the images together for me.  She showed me how to do it, but I wouldn't guarantee that I could get it right.  I'll have to practice... with supervision.  Thank goodness the younger generation is so good with computers.  The paper is Wanted by Cosmo Cricket.  I tried to make the grey dappled.  It actually shows.  I'm surprised.

Card for a Friend's Mom

This is a birthday card requested by a dear friend for her Mom's ninetieth birthday.  I'm really hoping she likes it.  The image is from Isabella's Scrapbook.  I believe it was the first digi I ever bought.  I still really love it.  I colored it with Copics and the papers are from Stampin' Up.  the dots on the dress were done with a white pen.  I added glitter to the flowers, which shows only slightly in the photo.

Now for the story of how it came to be.  I colored the image, which included flowers growing under the watering can.  I put the entire card together, including gluing on the flower arrangement in the corner.  When I was all done I looked at it and realized the corner looked extremely cluttered with the flower image and the glued on flowers.  I was not happy at all.  I had to make a quick decision before the glue dried.  I took the card completely apart, trying not to cause too much damage.  I put the image into my photo program, removed the flowers and reprinted it.  After coloring the image a second time I glued everything back together.  I'm happy with how it turned out now.

I found the perfect sentiment in my Hallmark program.

"Those who fill their years with love
can count their age in blessings."

           Here's to more journeys,
            more songs to be sung,
          more ways to be blessed
          when ninety years young.

Curly Head

I am in love with Saturated Canary digis.  They are simply irresistible!  I colored this with Copics. The papers are Everyday Flair by My Mind's Eye.  The flowers are, of course, from Wild Orchid Crafts.

We are having a craft sale at school starting on the 12th so I thought I would get a few more cards done before then.  I have alot of people ask for birthday cards so I figured that would be a good place to start.  I'm hoping everyone likes these digis as much as I do.

Card for Tom

This is a Christmas card I made for my husband Tom.  I usually don't do this type of image, but I thought it would be kind of interesting to try.  I actually had quite a bit of fun with it!  The image is from KennyK and is called Toy Soldier.  The paper is from my stash.  I embossed the snowflake layer and painted it with Glamour Dust.  As usual, the sparle does not show in the photo.  I kind of wish I had picked out a better portion of the paper.  the top left corner is a fairly dark section of the print.  I didn't even realize it until I saw it in the photo.

Copics:  B23, B24, B26, C0, C1, C3, C7, E00, E02, E23, E25, E31, E33, E34, E35, G14, Y19, YR20, YR21, YR24

Birthday Tiger

This is my entry for Digi Doodle Shop's Challenge this week "Animals."  My absolute favorite thing to color!  I decided to use this gorgeous tiger image.  They have so many beautiful animal digis for you animal lovers out there.  I always check Google images before I color now so I can at least attempt to color accurately.  A while ago I colored a skunk with the stripes done completely wrong..  I learned my lesson...now I do some research!  I colored  the image with Copics and edged the paper with Stampin' Up pastels.  The paper is from Graphics 45 "A Proper Gentleman."  The eyelets are from my stash.  I wonder if I'll actually ever use them up.

Catch a Bug?

I bought this little guy from Mo's Digital Pencil ages ago.  He is ideal for My Time to Craft's challenge this week: Under the Weather. Doesn't he look totally miserable and adorable at the same time?

I colored him with Copics, of course.  I just started taking some online Copic classes.  I'm hoping to enhance my coloring skills. I learned some things I didn't know already, such as why my markers "bloop" sometimes and how to fix the marker.  That's my word for when the ink just randomly flows out on whatever you're working on.

The papers are from my stash.  This blue gingham is one of my absolute favorites and I think I only have about a quarter of a page left.  Time to buy more.  I hope I can find it again.

Fun Card for the Week

I haven't had too much time lately to work on cards.  I finally made time to do this one.  The digi is from Digidoodlestampart on Etsy.  I fell in love with it when I fist saw it.  He's the typical Santa we all think of from when we were little.  At least, I do!

I colored him with Copics.  The paper is from Basic Grey-Eskimo Kisses.  The flowers are from
Wild Orchid Crafts.

Christmas Tree

Okay, this really gave me a workout.  It took about two and a half hours to color.  I was pretty much done coloring and was doing some embellishments such as Stickles on the ornaments.  I decided that the cranberries on the garland night look good with small dots of liquid pearls to give them dimension.  Not!!!  Up near the star I started with the liquid pearls.  The dots were coming out too large and just didn't look good.  I very carefully tried to wipe off the two dots I had done.  What I got was a large red smear.  Nothing would take it off.  I was just going to tear the card in half and put it in the circular file.  I decided instead to cut out a larger star than what had been on the tree.  I Stickled it up and put it on a pop dot.  Fortunately, it covered my red smear very well.  the card actually looks much better in real life, when you can see all the glitter.  That was my adventure in card making this week.

I almost forgot!!! This is mt DT entry for Digi Doodle Shop's Challenge this week.  It's red and green.  So everyone get something Christmasy going and play along.
