Jellypark Store and Challenge Blog is Open!

This is my first DT card for a brand new webstore and challenge blog called Jellypark.  I'm very excited that I was chosen to be part of their first Design Team.  Jellypark is the creation of artist Claire Keay. You have seen her stamps sold at My Favorite Things and her digital images at both her Etsy shop and at her online store. I hope you stop by a visit both.  I know I'm very excited to see the store.

I thought this was the cutest image.  It's a set that comes with a balloon and a kite.  I popped up everything and tied the balloons with black thread.  I was having a dickens of a time trying to add highlights to the balloons.  My daughter suggested I use my white pen.  I like the way it came out.  Thanks, Sandy.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up.   I colored this with Copic markers.

Copics:  B12, B14, BG 11, BG13, BG15, E00, E01, E13, E97, E99, G 05, G09,

Aqua Angel

This is my DT entry for Digi Doodle Shop Challenge # 65 Anything Goes.  I absolutely love this image, Angel #2.  I plan on collecting all four angels from the shop.  I colored her in light blue greens and pinks.  I just love how soft the colors turned out.  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the pearl spray is from ZVA.  The paper pack I've had a very long time.  It's one of those kind of paper packs that you love so much you hesitate to use it because then it will be gone.  The paper is from DCWV.

Copics:  B0000. B000. BOO, BG0000, BG000, BV00, BV02, CO,C1, E000, E00, E01, E08, E11, E13, E97, G21, R00, R01, R11, R20, R22, Y11, T28

Happy Birthday Gabriel!

This card is for my son-in-law's twenty-sixth birthday.  He's one of the nicest young men I know.  My daughter is indeed lucky.  I cased this on a card I found online, but it had been obtained in a card swap so I don't have the name of the person I cased.  I changed the layout, and most of the details on the card front. The stamp set is "The Open Sea" by Stampin' Up.  The background paper is a digital paper from Stampin' Up.

My Time to Craft Challenge Blog

Lots of cute digis.   I have been having a very lucky time lately!

Fun In the Sun

This is my Guest DT card for Wags 'n Whiskers Challenge #57 Summertime.  The image is from Wags 'n Whiskers, naturally.  This is the first time I have tried paper piecing.  I need to trim a little better, but other than that I really enjoyed this technique.  The papers, ribbon and flowers are ones I received in a Key Ingredient kit from Taylored Expressions.  I really need to keep track of the names of the papers that they send.  Right now I just throw then all in a basket so I have no idea who the manufacturers are.  The small red dotted paper was perfect for the bathing suit.  I colored her with Copic markers.  I used a Nestability die to cut the image out.

Li'l Stinker

This is my DT entry for Digi Doodle Shop Challenge #64:  To use a  sketch.  I chose this cute little skunk image from Digi Doodle Shop  for my main design.  The paper, cardstock and flowers are from Taylored Expression.  They are part of the June '11 Key Ingredients kit.  I colored this image with Copics.  I am trying to learn to color black images.  I will admit it's been quite a challenge.  I'm just starting to get the hang of it although, I have a ways to go yet.  I just looked at images of skunks and realized I colored this wrong.  A skunk is supposed to have two stripes of white not one.   Too late to redo.

Not too many Copics were used here:

A lot of blogger  problems this morning.  It wouldn't let me upload any photos.  I read the help section and someone said that you could still upload using Edit HTML.  It worked!  I'm back in business.  Hopefully, they get it fixed soon.    The typing is all messed up also.  I haven't figured out how to fix that yet.   I'll try to fix it in HTML.  If my writing is decent you'll know it worked!
Wow, this is alot of purple!  Funny, how this kind of thing can just hit you all of a sudden.  This image is from Karen's Doodles.  I am entering this in Karen's Doodles Challenge for this week:  Flower Power.    When I first saw this digi I was just struck by how pretty her eyes were. Funny, after I took photos and was working on them in my photo program, I realized I had forgotten to color them.  Green eyes it is. What a morning!

June Christmas Card Challenge

I made these cards for the June '11 Christmas Card Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers.  My goal is to make six cards every month.  I'm halfway done now!  I made four of the card with the lantern. That was a free digi. from Beccy's Place.  The others I just made one of each.  I used an unusual color combo on the Skater card, purple with red and white stripes.  I rather like it.  The image is from Sassy Cheryl.  The snowmen are from Stampin' Up.  For some reason they didn't photograph very well this morning.  The lighting seems off.  I'm just too lazy to go do it again!  I'm intentionally using very few embellishments on my Christmas cards.  The postage at Christmas would just kill me if I had to pay extra on each one.

Happy 4th of July! (a tad early)

This little pair from Karen's Doodles are showing their respect to our country's colors and enjoying the parade.  I remember growing up on Staten Island and lining up on Pleasant Plains Avenue  to watch the parade go by.  My favorite was always the horses at the end.  No big surprise why they put them at the end.  As I got older I often got to march in the parade with my high school, which was not quite as fun as watching since we usually had to walk several miles.

I merged the two separate images together and colored them with Copics.  I think they look really cute together.

I am entering this in Karen's Doodles DT call.   Karen's Doodles Challenge Blog will be choosing 5 new Doodle Princesses in July.

For My Husband

This is a card I made for my husband for Father's Day.  He's been a wonderful husband.  In fact, we had our 35th wedding anniversary last month.

I had a difficult time with this card as well as all my cards lately.  I don't know what is happening to the creative process, but I feel like my mojo has got up and left.  I know I have felt like this before and got over it.  I was really hoping that being off for the summer and having so much time for myself would be great, instead I feel like I can't do anything right when it comes to the creative process.  Nothing is coming out as I planned.

Maybe, I need that rush, rush, get it done now.  Seems I work better under pressure.

Anyway, this card was done with a stamp I just purchased on Ebay.  It's by Stampa Rosa.  It's quite a large stamp.  Most of the eagle stamps I found were much smaller and I figured they would be more difficult to color and give detail to.   According to pictures I studied, the eagle actually should be much darker, but I did one darker and it hid all the stamp details.  I colored him with Copics on watercolor paper.  I think I will try another one with distressed inks and see how it comes out.

I'm going to a friend's Stampin' Up party today.  I think I will get some stamps that are just fun, silly images.  That should help brighten things up a bit!

The Water Pump

This is my DT entry for Digi Doodle Shop Challenges:  Stitches.  I used faux stitching on this card.  It was one of those times when I had to keep re-doing things.  I finally decided to leave it alone.  This is colored with Copics and I used Stampin' Up markers for the stitching.  The pearls are from Zva.

Off to See the Wizard II

This is a remake of a card I had done in February.  I really never liked the way it turned out.  I had a little extra time today so I decided to redo the card.  This time I added a yellow brick road (use your imagination here) and did the sky with pastels.  I fussy cut the images so I could put them on the road.  I'm still not real happy, but I do like it better than the other one.  The images are from Mo's digital Pencil.  I am entering this in Crafty Creations Challenges #122 Over the Rainbow.

That's What Friends Are For

I made this card for Mo's Challenge #86 A Recipe for Friendship.  I just love this image.  I have been wanting to color it for quite sometime.  I used faux stitching around the edge.  I first punched the holes and then filled in the lines with my Stampin' Up Markers.  They have a nice fine tip that was great for this application.  Don't tell anyone, but I put the twine on the top because I punched the holes too close together and had to cover the holes up when I re-spaced them.  I like the way it turned out, though.

Siesta Time & Di's Digis 1000 Follower Candy Give Away!

I had forgotten that I made this card.  My daughter just noticed it sitting on top of my storage drawers and asked me about it.  The image is from Di's Digis.  I won some when my number was drawn in a recent challenge.  I thought this little guy and his horse were rather cute.  The paper is from Oriental Trading as is the tag and hat.  They were just ideal.  Thanks so much to Di's Digis.  I have a few more you'll be seeing in the future.

Di's Digis is offering some really great candy right now.   Stop on over there and have a look.  Become a follower and you just might win.  Here's the link:  Di's Digi 1000 Follower Candy Giveaway

Father's Day

This card was made for Digi Doodle Shop Challenges  #62:  No backing papers/designer papers.  The image is from Digi Doodle Shop.  Of course, with it being a nature scene, I couldn't resist.   I colored it with Copics, and although you can't tell in the picture, I used an iridescent powder from Stampin' Up on the heads so they actually have a very pretty iridescence. I printed a picture off the internet so I could tell what colors they needed to be.

My Workspace

This is my work area, which unfortunately, is also the dining area of our family room. It gets real interesting when we have company for dinner and I have to clear the table. It's really nice to be able to work there though, because my husband is usually watching television in the evenings, so I can craft and still keep him company.  Eventually, when my daughter moves out I may convert her bedroom to a craft room, but then my husband will never see me!  I do have quite a collection of copics now.  Thirty one more and my boxes will be filled.  I think I will stop collecting at that point.  For Mother's Day this year my husband let me buy a set of distressed inks.  I'm trying to learn to use them.  I haven't had much luck yet.  Practice, practice!  I certainly have collected a lot of craft supplies in a year and a half since I began this hobby. I could really use another row of drawers, but my husband thought I was crazy when I suggested that.  I guess I will just have to do with what I have.

June Wedding

Well, I have a wedding card, now all I need is to find some one getting married.  This is my DT card for Digi Doodle Shop's Best Challenge #61-Weddings.  This digi is absolutely adorable and was a real pleasure to work with.  I scored the background card at 3/4" intervals in both directions and added a Martha Stewart pearl to each intersection.  I had seen this score and embellish technique used a couple times before and absolutely loved it.   Here is a link to one of the cards.  I colored the happy couple with copic markers and added lots of pink and white flowers. The leaves and boughs were punched with a Martha Stewart punch. I thought a sentiment on the front would have made it look too busy. Her dress and veil have dots of glitter applied and the ruffles are done with glitter. the close-up shows the glitter a little better.  The corners were done with a Sizzix punch.

Here is a link for a tutorial of how to do the scoring:  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/grid_technique/   I don't own a scoreboard so I did it a little differently.  I marked off three quarter inch sections along all four edges on the back of my cardstock.  If you use a 6X6 inch square this works out perfectly.  Then I drew lines diagonally to connect all the marks.  I put this cardstock on my paper cutter fit with a scoring blade and carefully scored all the lines.  There have been many, many times that I pressed a little too hard and cut through the cardstock.  The pencil marks are on the backside so you don't see them.  For me it was much easier if I actually had pencil lines to follow.
