Card Exchange Cards

I am quite backed up on my cards for my card exchange group.  This should catch me up.  I need to get them in the mail tomorrow.  The first two cards have images by Elizabeth Bell.  I absolutely love her artwork.  She doesn't offer too many in digis, though.

The peacock is by A Day for Daisies.  I colored them slightly different.  They are actually iridescent which I could not get to show up in the photo.

No challenges for these, I'm too burned out to look.

First Mother's Day

I absolutely love this image from A Day for Daisies.  I had it printed for quite a while and decided it was time to color it.  I decided to make it a Mother's Day card for a first time mother since it had a baby on it.  The inside sentiment came with the image.

I colored it with Copics, of course.   The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I tipped the petals with Dazzling Detail from Stampin' Up.  I am finding that I like that a little better than Stickles.  I can put it on much finer.

After coloring, I painted the wings with Glamour Dust.  It doesn't show very well in the photos, but it gives a beautiful sparkle to the wings.  I love finding and trying out new products.

I colored him with Copics.  The paper is from my stash.  The beautiful brad is from Stampin' Up.

CAS Butterfly

This is my DT entry for My Time to Craft's current challenge:  Quite White.  This is an unusual type of card for me.  I usually throw as much junk on my cards as possible.   The butterfly is by Crissy at Whimsy Stamps.  There are three different versions and I have two of them.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up.

I almost forgot to post this.  This card is for Digi Doodle Shop's Challenge this week:  Purple and Green.  I have made an awfully lot of purple cards lately for different challenges and it's actually one of my least liked colors.  I do love this digi, though.  I used a spellbinder's die to cut the scalloped square.  The ribbon is pure silk from the Stamp Simply ribbon Store.

I searched for a challenge, but couldn't find any that were applicable.  I'll look again Thursday when this posts.  Hopefully, I'll find something.

This card was made with an image from Dulemba.  She offers lots of free coloring pages.  I colored the image with Copics (Lots and lots!).  This was one that I really enjoyed coloring.  I think I will send it to my Dad for Thanksgiving.

Put On A Happy Face

This card is for Mo's Challenge #104 Inspired By a Song.  The song I chose is "Put on a Happy Face."  I thought this picture suited the song well.  It was either that one or "Singing in the Rain"  which is one of my favorites.  Just loved Gene Kelly.

Birthday Cutie

This is my last fun card for the weekend.  This is another image from Krista Smith.  It's called "Gothica."  My coloring is far from Goth.

The doily die is from Cheery Lynn Designs.  I had trouble with it cutting all the way through.  Since most of the doily is hidden on this card it doesn't really matter.  I'll have to spend some time trying to get it to work correctly.

Steampunk

I have been having such a wonderful time coloring the past few days.  We have fall break off of school.  It's only a couple days, but it gives me time to play.  Especially since my husband has to work.  I have gotten to experiment with a few styles that I don't normally do and it's been so much fun!

This image is by Krista Smith and is called "Janessa."  I recently found Krista's work on Etsy and she is one of my favorites now.  I don't have many images yet, but hope to collect more.  I have always liked the steampunk look.  This doesn't have quite the grunge look that steampunk usually has.

Of course, I colored this with Copics  The embellishments are from Tim Holtz. I've been holding onto them for about a year waiting to do this type of card.

    Copics: B23, B24, B26, C0, C1, C3, E00, E01, E02, E08, G14, G20, G21, G24, R11, R22, R24, R27, YR12, YR14

    Lady in Red

This lady in red is a bit of a floozy, I think.  I needed to make a card that used red as it's main color and I wanted to be able to do a lot of shading.  This fit the bill.  Although, it's definitely not my typical image. I colored her with Copics and added red glitter to the sequined areas. I purchased the image on Etsy.  It was done by an artist named Rick St. Dennis.  He has some very interesting, very detailed digis.  Her name is Miss Razzle Dazzle, how appropriate!

I just went back to my craft area to get my list of Copics and found this card laying on the table (I left in standing after I photographed it) with the ends chewed off the ribbon.  Aargh!!!  The pleasures of having four cats.  I'm sure it was Little Miss Ella.  She loves to watch me make cards, steals my ribbons, flowers, and whatever else she can pick up.  At least it wasn't a card I was making for someone. Here's a pic of the little angel.

    DDSC Lavender and Lace

This image is by Digi Doodle Shop.  I'm using it for this week's  Digi Doodle Shop Challenge: Lavender and Lace. I colored the image with Copics.  I felt like I did a lot more shading on the dress than what is visible in the photo.  I was afraid the shading would be too strong so I toned it down a bit.  I probably shouldn't have done that.

The paper is Fairy Flora from Prima.  I cut apart some lace trim from Walmart and added it in sections so it would make a nice curve around the frame.  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I ordered a bunch more and can't wait till they arrive.  It should be any day now.

    Coloring Practice

I found this image on Etsy the other day and thought it would be a real challenge to color.  It kept me busy while I was waiting for "House" to come on.  I'm pretty satisfied with how she turned out except for the hair.  I just haven't been able to get the hair quite right lately.  Well, I suppose that's what practice is for.  Maybe, in another month or so, I'll try her again.  I didn't want to decorate the card too much since the picture is so elaborate.  The image is from Digidoodlestampart.

    Mo's Patchwork Challenge #103

As soon as I saw that Mo's challenge this week was patchwork, I knew what I wanted to do.  I started making a flying geese quilt a very long time ago in all different shades of blue.  I absolutely loved it, but never quite finished it.  Maybe, someday I will.  I cut  diamonds with a Nestability die and then cut them in half to make the geese.  I thought the image would go well with the blue stripes in his shirt.  Actually, they don't photograph quite the blue shade they actually look in real life.  This is one of my favorite Mo's  images.

    First Attempt at Distressing

Digi Doodle Shop's challenge this week is Distressing ... and it distressed me plenty.  I had never tried distressing before and had no idea how to do it.  The card was due Tuesday, and it was Monday night,  so I was down to the wire, no choice but learn how to do it.  I started with a couple of video tutorials.  I finally saw one that recommended a foot file, kind of like a small grater.  I happened to have one so I figured I'd give it a try.  Well, it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be.  I still need practice, but I did it! It does look like it's been around a bit.

The image is from Digi Doodle Shop;  I really like it.  I colored it with Copics and used distressed inks for the aged look.  The over sized eyelets are from Stampin' Up.  They kind of reminded me of portholes.  The paper was a scrap left in my stash.

    Fall Wedding Card

A friend at work had requested a card for a wedding this weekend.   The wedding decor is in fall colors.  I didn't have many flowers on hand in the correct colors so I colored some light colored ones with Copics   The orange flower in the center was originally pink and white.  I colored it with yellow and orange.  The yellow next to it was a very pale pink.   I am pleased with the way they turned out.  I added some stickles which doesn't show very well in the photo, but really looks nice.  I edged the papers with a gold pen..  Believe me, it took many, many tries to get the lines straight.  The lattice at the bottom is a Martha Stewart punch and the swirls are a die from Magnolia..  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up.

    Nusery Necessities

These two cards are for My Time to Craft's latest challenge "Nursery Necessities."  These two cards were actually done when I first started making cards, but before I had a blog so they were never posted.  I figured they fit the challenge so I would use them now.

    Feminine Birthday Card

I figured I might as well make one card on World Card Making Day   The rest of the day absolutely needs to be spent doing shopping, laundry, cleaning and cooking.  My laundry is so backed up, it's ridiculous!   This card is made with an image by Whoopsie Daisy.  The paper is Ivory Floral by Paper Adventures.  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.
